God's Strong Love

Thou hast led in thy steadfast love the people whom thou hast redeemed, thou hast guided them by thy strength to thy holy abode. (Exodus 15:13)

Ex. 15:1-14, 16, 17; Ps. 23; Deut 8:2; Isa. 35:10; Rev. 7:11, 12 and 15:3.

What Is God Saying?

This verse is part of The Song of Moses which he delivered following God's victory over the Egyptians. Moses and Israel were flushed with victory. It was a time for rejoicing. The proud and mighty foe, the cruel and heartless enemy, the unrelenting taskmaster who enslaved the people of God for so many years, the Egyptians, lay dead upon the seashore. Israel saw the triumph of God (Ex. 14:30, 31). Surely their God was alive and in control. They were a people redeemed. His was a strong love. The proof lay before them in deathly but eloquent silence. It called for a song. Everything else could wait. The Song of Moses has come down to us unsilenced by the centuries, a message we can still hear, a song we can still sing. β€˜It is God's love that has redeemed us. It is His strength that will prevail until we are where He wants us to be.’

The redeemed of the Lord echo that song now, and when the dawn of eternity comes, it will still be the redeemed who sing of God in what is called The Song of Moses, servant of God and the song of the Lamb (Rev. 15:3-4). The triumph belongs to the King of the Ages. The redeemed will sing of God's triumph in Christ in the most joyous music of Heaven. It begins with, but it doesn't end with Moses.

How Does This Apply To Us?

God shut the door behind His redeemed and delivered people. Let this same thought and fact bring confidence to us today It will make such a difference in our lives to know that God has delivered us from the reach of the enemy. The things that enslaved us, all the sorry failures of the past, all the glittering trivialities that once consumed our life and energy, and all the poor and paltry goals that we once thought so important are now behind us like. The door is closed. We are redeemed, and in His strong love, we are being led to glory. The future is bright. The past is dead. The present is meaningful.

Pray With Me

Lord, I want to be constantly aware and instantly responsive to this great fact: along with all the redeemed, You lead and guide me by Your love and strength. Thank You for love that is strong and for strength that is love. Let Your strong love lead me. When I am tempted to turn aside, unveil what can be mine when I let You lead the way. When I grow weary in well-doing, saying, "What's the use?" let Your strong love point me in the way that is truth and life. When I have lost my zest for spiritual health and material mindedness has dampened the flame of spiritual zeal, flood my soul with the glory and the joy of Your love. Lead me by Your steadfast love so that I may find my way through the bewildering maze of lesser options into fulfilling and meaningful experiences of life in You.

Thank You, Lord, for the strength that guides. My impetuous and willful nature will sometimes pull away from Your restraining grace. Let Your strength guide me. Let me feel the power of Your love compelling me to return to the path of life. If I ever say I want to be free from You, let Your loving strength hold me close until I see that it is foolish to be free from You, when I can be so abundantly free in You. Such is the leading of Your love; it makes me want to live for You, and it makes me fit for You to live with me.

In the name of Jesus whose strong love will lead me all the way home. Amen.
